Miley Cyrus Dies From Fall At Concert

Miley Cyrus died when she fell offstage during a concert at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee on Sunday and broke her neck.

Cyrus, 17, was line dancing during a performance of her father’s song “Achy Breaky Heart” when she missed the edge of the stage and fell head first onto the ground. The 35,000 fans in attendance watched in horror.

“Everyone started to panic and we had to push through the crowds to get to her,” security guard Eli Thompson explained. “She wasn’t moving. The paramedics later told us that she died instantly from a break in her neck. It’s a shock, and we are all still trying to deal with it.”

A public memorial will be held for Cyrus on Friday at Disneyland in Anaheim, California in front of Cinderella’s castle.

Miley Cyrus was born on November 23, 1992 in Nashville, Tennessee to country star Billy Ray Cyrus and Leticia Cyrus. She was originally named Destiny Hope Cyrus, but her father nicknamed her Smiley because of the ever-present grin that graced the child’s face. Smiley was shortened to Miley, which she adopted as her stage name. She legally changed her name to Miley Ray Cyrus in January of 2008.

Cyrus appeared in her first television show at age nine in her father’s TV series “Doc.” She then played a minor role in Tim Burton’s “Big Fish.” Her big break came in 2006 when she landed the role Miley Stewart in the Disney Channel’s “Hannah Montana.” She went on to guest star in several other Disney Channel shows including “The Suite Life of Zack and Cody.” Cyrus was just beginning to move away from the Hannah Montana franchise with movies like “The Last Song.” She was in the pre-production stage of the movie “LOL: Laughing Out Loud” before the tragic accident.

Cyrus was able to launch her musical career through Disney with the Hannah Montana soundtrack. She was a prolific songwriter and many of her songs appeared on her show. Her first major hit was “Girls’ Night Out.” The single went platinum in the US and sold more than 300,000 copies. Some of her more recent hits include “Party in the USA,” “Can’t Be Tamed,” and “When I Look At You.”

Cryus’ friends and family were devastated by the loss. “Miley was the best friend I’ve ever had,” says Mandy Jiroux. “She was the brightest light in my life. There was never a moment in time when I wasn’t proud of her. Even though she’s gone, I will always be thinking about her and everything she has done for me.”

Miley Cyrus’ fans regarded her as an inspiration, a theme that was prevalent in many of her songs. She always looked at life in the most positive way possible, and never lost sight of what was truly important.

“There’s no right or wrong, success or failure. I don’t look at things as black or white. My life won’t be a series of either/ors – musician or actor, rock or country, straitlaced or rebellious, this or that, yes or no. The real choices in life aren’t that simple.”
